Texas auction license renewal

Independent Motorcycle - May buy, sell, or exchange any type of used motorcycles, motor scooters or ATVs. May use dealer's temporary tags, buyer's temporary tags, and metal dealer license plates on motorcycles, motor scooters or ATVs only. Travel Trailer - May buy, sell, or exchange used travel trailers. May use dealer's temporary tags, buyer's temporary tags, and metal dealer license plates on travel trailers only.

Exempt from the security requirement. Wholesale Dealers - May sell or exchange vehicles only with other licensed dealers. For a late renewal, the continuing education courses must have been completed within the one year period immediately prior to the date of renewal.

Licensees may not receive continuing education credit for attending the same course more than once. Further, licensees must retain a copy of the certificate of completion for a course for one year after the date of completion. Please note that the reporting of continuing education hours is the responsibility of the continuing education provider.

Schools must also confirm the identity of their students who are using distance learning and should make sure that students are equipped with the proper tools to effectively complete the course. Licensees still need to submit their renewal applications, pay the required fees, and TDLR will check their criminal histories, but they will not need to complete any TDLR-required continuing education this licensing cycle. If a certifying entity requires continuing education to maintain certification, and certification is required for Texas licensure, then that continuing education must be completed.

Reminder: The Auctioneer Education and Recovery Fund is established by the State of Texas and managed by TDLR to provide compensation to individuals who are harmed by the actions of a licensed auctioneer.
