Every weekend, I do a full backup-to-disk of our three ESXi servers via VMware agent but, since I'm not here on the weekends, I want to duplicate those jobs to tape throughout the week. Since I would like to do the disk-to-tape backups of our ESXi jobs at my convenience during the business day I would like to have the ESXi duplicate jobs submitted on hold so, when I go into Backup Exec, the three ESXi jobs will be sitting patiently on hold waiting for me to pop in a tape and release the job.
Currently, if I right-click on the duplicate job the "Hold Schedule" option is grayed out. If so, this does not let you set a Schedule. Then edit Schedule and select 'Submit job on hold'. You should be able to not set a schedule for a job, or set a schedule in the past, and it should show up in your jobs list, then you can initiate it manually.
When setting up a duplicate job, there doesn't appear to be an option for changing the schedule. There are two types of Duplicate Backup Sets:. I created one policy for each of our ESXi servers and configured the D2T template to be submitted on hold. I'm running the first "previously on hold" job this morning and it seems to be working great!
